Three state-level winners from each category – Class VI to VIII, IX to XII and college – were declared on Sunday. The state rounds had 2,240 questions on Gujarat’s culture, history, geography, industry, education and literature that covered 1,800 questions from the taluka and district rounds.
Education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said the Gujarat quiz was started in 2010 to make students aware about their areas’ religious, historical and geographical significance. “It was first organised by then Chief Minister Narendra Modi but somehow could not be conducted in the following years. I hope in 2018 too, I will preside over even a better and larger quiz event,” said Chudasama. He added children, whose parents take note of their studies and activities in school, performed better.
